Relieve Your Pet’s Pain with Laser Therapy
Veterinary Medical Center is proud to be one of the few veterinary hospitals in the Studio City area to offer Companion cold laser therapy as a treatment option for pets. Pet laser therapy is an FDA-approved surgery-free, drug-free treatment option that involves using laser light to safely, painlessly penetrate tissues and stimulate them to heal. This process is referred to as photo-bio-modulation. The use of laser light on tissue has been linked to a number of physical benefits for pets after decades of research, including pain relief and rapid healing. As a result, we use laser therapy to treat a wide range of conditions for pets of all ages. It can also be combined with other treatment plans, in some cases, for optimum results. Another great feature of pet laser therapy is that there are no known side effects associated with it, so the only thing you can expect for your pet is relief!
What Conditions Does Laser Therapy Treat?
The simple answer is “many.” From chronic to acute conditions to arthritis, there are more than a dozen conditions that are known to respond positively to laser therapy treatment. Some of the most common conditions that can be treated with cold laser therapy include:
- Hip dysplasia
- Sprains and strains
- Chronic and acute conditions
- Post-surgical care
- Neurological disorders
- Dermatological (skin) problems
What to Expect During Pet Laser Therapy Session
Because laser therapy is a surgery-free treatment option, there is no need for sedation or fur clipping during the session. The only requirement is for your pet and anyone in close vicinity to the laser to wear protective eyewear. One of our trained doctors then delivers the laser light using a non-invasive hand piece, which results in a warm, soothing sensation for your pet on the area of application. For many pets, there is immediate pain relief. However, depending on your pet’s specific condition, more treatment sessions may be required for full results. The length and amount of treatments vary from pet to pet, with some as short as five minutes.
